You can now back up, restore, and reuse configurations for many Araknis wired devices directly in OvrC!

Key Features:

  • Apply repeatable configuration templates to identical Araknis models.
  • Reduce setup time by restoring saved configs rather than rebuilding manually.
  • Maintain system stability with automatic config backups.
  • Scale installs by replicating known-good configs to matching switches and routers.

Supported Devices:

  • Araknis 220, 320, 420, and 620 Series Switches
  • Araknis 220 and 520 Series Routers

Here is an example of how to back up and restore an Araknis Switch:

To back up an Araknis switch, select the device name in OvrC. Navigate to Configure, then select Backup and Restore. Click Create Backup to take a snapshot of the device’s current configuration. You can rename a backup by clicking the kebab menu (three dots), selecting Rename Backup, and clicking the pencil icon.

To restore a backup, go to Configure > Backup and Restore. Select the desired backup using the radio button, then click Apply to Device. Type “OVERWRITE” when prompted and click Apply Changes. The device will reboot and apply the configuration after a few moments.

Note: Backup files are only compatible with the same device model. While firmware is forward-compatible (e.g., an older backup can be applied to newer firmware), you cannot apply a newer backup to a device running older firmware.

To save a backup as a Template for use across multiple locations, select the backup radio button and click Save as Template. You can view these under My Company > Templates. Note that there is a limit of five templates per device model.

To apply a backup or template to multiple switches simultaneously:

Select your backup or template, enter the confirmation number provided, and click Apply.

Click Categories in OvrC and select Networking.

Select the desired switches and click Bulk Actions.

Choose Restore Configuration and click Apply.
