Configure your Internet Service Provider Router

Contact your Internet Service Provider to configure your ISP router in Bridge Mode / Single User / DMZ. The option you choose will depend on the ISP device’s capabilities.

Bridge Mode

Enabling Bridge Mode in your ISP router turns off the combo unit’s router functionality, but it does not eliminate the VLAN 802.1Q tag from the Ethernet frames. It removes an unnecessary routing hop and lets the Araknis router be the one that manages IPTV and VOIP. Contact your ISP Provider to enable it.

Once your ISP router is in Bridge mode, configure your Araknis router WAN 1 in DHCP.

Single User

Enabling Single Mode in your ISP router turns off the DSL modem unit’s router functionality, eliminates the VLAN 802.1Q tag from the Ethernet frames, and uses PPPoE to create a WAN link from a telephone connection. IPTV and VOIP are routed in the ISP router.

Once your ISP router is in Single User mode, configure your Araknis router WAN 1 in PPPoE.

DMZ

Enabling DMZ in your ISP router does not turn off the combo modem unit’s router functionality; it keeps the routing in place and simply opens all the ports and passes the traffic to the Araknis router. Contact your ISP Provider to know how to enable a DMZ that points to the Araknis WAN private IP.

Once your ISP router is in DMZ mode, configure your Araknis router WAN 1 in Static IP.

Configure your Araknis WAN port

DHCP

PPPoE

In the Araknis WAN, you will have a public IP, but you will configure WAN1 as PPPoE. PPPoE requires a username and password you will find in Google. Contact your ISP Provider to provide further assistance.

Static IP

Araknis setup for ISP devices set up in DMZ:

In the Araknis WAN, you will have a private IP, so you will configure WAN1 as a Static IP.
