Best Practices for Remote Access

Remote access is essential for effectively supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting customer sites. Configuring remote access correctly enhances site security and customer confidence.

Araknis routers are configured with our security best practices by default. We understand every install is different, so we’ve provided the following best practices to help the decision-making process:

  • Use a unique admin password for the router’s local user interface. Learn how to make a strong, easy-to-remember password.
  • Use OvrC WebConnect.
  • If you port forward, avoid default or commonly used ports like 8080 and 7000.
  • Keep remote management disabled in the router’s firewall. This setting is not required for OvrC features to work.
  • Ensure your router is on the latest firmware.
